In June 2010, the NQC amended its policy by:

• replacing references to the TAA04 Certificate IV and assessor competencies with references to the revised TAE10 Certificate IV and assessor competencies; and
• requiring all trainers and assessors to have these qualifications/competencies or be able to demonstrate equivalent competencies (deleting all references to BSZ98 Certificate IV/competencies).

It is important to note that the new policy includes provision for trainers and assessors to ‘demonstrate equivalent competencies’. In other words, it is not the NQC’s intention to require trainers and assessors to upgrade their formal qualifications if they are able to demonstrate they have gained the required competencies through continued professional practice.

The NQC has agreed to a two year transition period until June 2012 for providers to become fully compliant.

For anyone intending to seek credit transfer and/or RPL from TAA40104 to TAE40110, it is important to remember that credit must be applied at a unit of competency level, not at a qualification level. While the vocational outcomes of the two qualifications are considered to be substantially equivalent, the selection of elective units in the TAA40104 may determine whether sufficient credit is able to be applied to award the TAE40110 without further study. It is not appropriate for an RTO to simply issue an updated qualification based on a previous qualification. An analysis of the units contained within each qualification must be undertaken to ensure complete alignment.

Ballinger Training is offering the opportunity for managers to complete the Diploma of Management as a fully funded traineeship.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who are engaged to manage the work of others or to add value to or review management practices. Their role may be in any industry or organisational setting.

Participants complete the course by attending face to face training sessions, along with project work designed to reflect and support the needs of each individual workplace. Our trainers can deliver the face to face workshops on site at your place of business for groups of 4 or more. Support is given throughout the course, both via email, phone and one on one meetings.

Upgrade Course

From BSZ40198 to TAA40104

Is this qualification for you?

If you have the “old” Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training (BSZ40198), and you are looking to be employed in the VET sector it would be to your advantage to upgrade to the new TAA qualification. Most RTO’s when they are recruiting expect their staff to have the most up to date qualification.

If you are currently employed then the Upgrade course will give you the latest information on VET sector enabling you to demonstrate that you are maintaining your currency.

Training and assessment are conducted by trainers and assessors who:

(c) continue developing their vocational and training and assessment competencies to support continuous improvement in delivery of the RTO’s services”

Continuous improvement is an important principle in all aspects of the VET sector and it is always changing and growing in new directions, upgrading to the new qualification will give you a valuable insight into what is current and what is coming in the near future.

How do you get the new qualification?

You will not be required to do the full qualification all over again. The TAA qualification has 14 units. A current BSZ qualified trainer will be given credit for 6 units. They complete the 4“new” TAA units during a 2 day workshop and can either show RPL  evidence for the other 4 units that have partial equivalence or complete gap training and written assessments. This combined with your current resume and a peer training activity on day 3 will mean you can be awarded the new qualification.

Course duration

This course is delivered over a 3 period. Training comprises of 2 face to face classes, with additional trainer support through phone or email.

Peer training day, where each member of the class chooses a topic to do with the 4 new units covered in the 2-day workshops and delivers a session to the group. It will be then up to the individual as to what pathway they choose to complete the rest of the units. Your trainer will work with you to develop an individual plan so you can complete the course requirements with additional trainer support through phone or email.

Classes run from 9am – 3pm at Ballinger Training and Consultancy, 6/2 Melaleuca Street, Kuluin (Across from the Kuluin School)

Assessment requirements

To be awarded the Certificate 1V in Training and Assessment you will be required to demonstrate competence in 14 units by

1. Attending a 2-day workshop, participating in activities and completing a workbook during class.
2. Researching and delivering a session to the group on day 3 on a topic that is related to the 4 new units covered during the workshop.
3. Either providing RPL evidence for the 4 units that have partial equivalence or completing written assignments
4. Providing a certified copy of you BSZ40198 certificate and a copy of an up to date resume
